Signs from the Universe and our Loved Ones.
I’m no stranger to signs. They can come in the form a feather floating down in front of my face, or finding one on the walk when I am trying to make a decision. A rainbow sharing its colors when I need it the most. A sound no one else can hear indicating to listen carefully. Or a smell that is so distinctive, I just know it’s Grandma’s cookies.
I love signs. They offer me comfort and decisiveness when I need it. Read more here.
Signs of Death

Signs of death. I wish someone would have shared these with me about six months ago. When Mom first went into the hospital. I didn’t realize that the signs could exhibit themselves months before the actual passing. Yet, when I looked at the list, I realized how many of them Mom had exhibited, and I simply didn’t know how to interpret what I was experiencing.

“Loss of Appetite, excessive fatigue, physical weakness, disorientation, swelling in the feet and ankles.”
All of these signs Mom had weeks before her passing. It could be explained by different things such as medication, nightmares keeping her awake at night, lack of mobility, etc. But really what was happening was her body was slowing down and shutting down. I just didn’t know what to look for. Read more here.
The Delirium Prevention Bag

I didn’t know there was such as thing as a Delirium Prevention Bag filled with Delirium Prevention Activities.

“Delirium is usually a sign of a stress, such as an illness, affecting the body overall. Common serious causes include infections (such as urinary tract infections or pneumonia), abnormalities of blood chemistry (such as high levels of blood sugar or sodium), dehydration, or even excessive pain after surgery. Delirium can also be caused by or worsened by intoxication or by certain medications (such as antihistamines, which have side effects that influence brain chemistry).
Although younger people with healthy minds can develop delirium, elderly people and people with dementia are especially prone to becoming delirious when sick. A frail elder may also develop delirium when stressed by seemingly minor issues such as constipation, lack of sleep, or not having eyeglasses and hearing aids while in the hospital.
Research has shown that delirium is common in hospitalized patients; up to 50 percent of postsurgical patients may be affected. Unfortunately, delirium is often missed by hospital personnel.
Especially in a frail older person, delirium can be the only outward sign of a serious medical illness.” Read more here.

Mom is called The Miracle Lady

So as I mentioned in my last article, Mom was in the hospital for double pneumonia and reactions to medication at the age of 94. A very sick woman. Actually, she came close to dying about six times in two weeks, that’s how sick she was. But each time, she pulled through, miraculously.
Health-care being what it is now, if the hospitals can’t cure you in two weeks, they have to either suggest a new procedure or move you someplace else where you can recuperate. So after two weeks, when Mom really wasn’t getting much better, the doctors did their doctor thing. They suggested a new, highly risky procedure. They wanted to insert a permanent chest tube to help drain the fluid from mom’s lungs, and teach her how to drain and clean the tube regularly. Mom was lucid enough for this to be her decision, thankfully. But she wanted everyone’s input. We researched what we could, and shared our findings. This was a high risk procedure that could lead to death or at the least, infection which could then lead to death. Not to mention, it involved anesthetic, something not recommended for a 94 year old. As siblings, our vote was no. Mom’s vote was no for similar reasons. She didn’t want to go through with the procedure because she didn’t think she needed to. One doctor had said that some people just have their lung fluid dry up on their own, without needing continual aspiration. And that was her choice. To dry up on her own. Read more here.
The Grim Reaper

I never believed in the Angel of Death or the Grim Reaper. I always thought that was a made up spectre, kind of like a fallen angel. The angels I work with are so kind and loving, how could there be such a thing as an Angel of Death?
Well, my beliefs were changed when my mom went into the hospital for the first time last fall. At 94, she had double pneumonia and reactions to her medications. She was struggling for her life, but you’d never know it to talk with her. She kept her sense of humor and her lucidity, no matter what medical procedure she was enduring.
That night, when I became a believer in the Grim Reaper, she was asleep. My brother was dozing, my sister was on her iphone, and I was sending distant healing, as we surrounded my mom’s bedside in the hospital. Read more here.

In memory….
Somewhere around Feb. 1, the angels gave me a new ‘app’. (An ‘app’ can be a hand mudra, symbol, sound, tone, picture, image, or anything that when repeated, helps you to instantly recreate its purpose over and over again.) In this case, my ‘app’ was touching my thumb and middle finger and hearing the words, “I am loved and supported.” It came in my daily meditation, unasked. I knew from my experience that using my hand mudra would instantly activate the feeling behind the words, “I am loved and supported.”
I thought that was a nice ‘app’. Little did I realize how much I was going to be using it in the next few months, or how much I would rely on it. Read more here.
